Unfolding as a house within a house, this residence is envisioned as a layered spatial experience shaped by climate, context, and privacy. Located in a region, where heavy rains and humidity define daily life, the design uses a sequence of volumes that shelter, filter, and breathe. The architecture reveals itself gradually, each layer mediating between the outside world and the intimate domestic core.

The site offered no clear boundary between public and private, inspiring a strategy that creates gentle spatial hierarchies rather than rigid edges. The main living volume is slightly raised, offering privacy while maintaining visual continuity. This elevated plane also protects from monsoon runoff and subtly marks transition into the home.

A rhythm of solids and voids shapes both facade and interiors. Walls, screens, and recessed openings invite cross-ventilation and soft daylight while shielding against rain. This calibrated porosity keeps the home cool and luminous, strengthening its connection with the climate.
Courtyards, green pockets, and water elements form the heart of the design, acting as microclimatic anchors. Each major space opens toward one of these pockets, allowing light, breeze, and the sound of rain to become part of everyday living.

Rather than a static structure, the residence unfolds as a sequence of experiences—balancing openness with shelter and privacy with connection. The result is a calm, climate-responsive home that fosters a quiet dialogue between architecture and nature.
